How Electric Dog Fences Work

We place a professional grade pet containment system wire underground and create a safety perimeter that we design with you. Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing uses a digital radio signal to keep your dog safely within the boundaries.

A small receiver is nestled in a comfortable collar worn by your pet. The receiver emits the appropriate stimulus level as your dog approaches the barrier. Should your pet continue to advance the second field produces the maximum correction. This will prevent escape.

We use flags and the collar to show your pet its boundaries. We repeatedly walk this area to show him or her where it is safe. We allow them to hear or feel the mild the que safely, so they understand where the boundaries are located. This process starts the day of installation.

Each installation is customized to your unique environment. You design the perimeter and boundaries. We will work with you to ensure your pet is protected around pools, driveways, lake frontage and any other dangerous areas. “A well-trained dog is a happy dog” We will work with you and your pet to ensure you are comfortable with the training process. We start as soon as the electric fence is installed to ensure that the training protocols are successfully followed.

The border of your property is marked with flags which creates a visual boundary for your pet. We will work with you and your pet by walking the border while they are leashed and allow them to see the flags and hear or feel the mild the safety que. We will work with your pet, so they understand where the fence is located and where they can be in your yard. Together we will determine the appropriate levels of audible ques and stimulus ques for your pet. We will also determine, based on your pet’s personality, the distance from the yard border where your pet will receive the stimulus que.

We will work with you, so you understand the process and are comfortable to continue the training. We recommend that the training continues daily for approximately two weeks. Using the tools, we teach you, your pet will learn quickly where they can explore.

  Used to transmit the radio frequency to and throughout the buried signal wire used to define the boundaries of your property. Also controls the depth of the correction zone, (the signal field or distance from the wire before a reminder or correction stimulus is used).
• 1 DG9XT, DG5000 or DG Micro receiver with nylon dog training collar (see our receivers)
  Worn by your pet and used to produce a tone or correction stimulus when they enter the reminder or correction zones (i.e., the signal field).
• 1 Dog Guard® Lightning Protection Unit
  Automatically disconnects the transmitter in case of AC power surges and lightning.
• Matching chew protectors
  Used to protect the receiver from damage by your pet.
• 500 feet of signal/boundary wire
  Carries the signal from the transmitter that defines the areas your pet can and cannot go, but does NOT carry any current of any kind*.
• 50 boundary flags
  Used during training to help your pet visually recognize where they can and cannot go.
• Extra Probes
